Non-Believer

This is one of my darker poems and I almost made my friend cry with this because it's kind like us, he isn't a 'believer' - like in the supernatural, blah blah - and I am XD

NON-BELIEVER

Once upon a time…

There was a little boy

He always had to be right

He always argued and had to pick a verbal fight.

He was a non-believer

He usually didn’t care

He believed that if he hadn’t seen it,

it wasn’t real

then came a little girl

she moved in from afar

a sweet little thing

she had an innocent little face

and an innocent little life

but beneath her outer, innocent self

this little girl

was truly a little demon

she was a believer

she knew fantasy, supernatural and the rest were real…

she believed

“If it wasn’t real, where did the ideas come from…?”

The little boy met the little girl

They quickly became friends

Then, one day, the little boy said

“It’s stupid, it’s not real”

The little girl snapped

She attacked the little boy and got into trouble

Red and black

Red and black

That’s all she ever saw again…

The little boy was scared of her

He said she was crazy

She should think logical

Then, one little night

On a cold winters evening

The little boy vanished

His bed was empty

His windows were closed

The next little day

The little girl was smiling brightly

Even though her little friend had vanished

Her teacher and a strange man with a badge came

“Do you know anything?” they asked.

“He was a non-believer, I made him believe.” She replied happily.

They took her away

Asked her more and more questions.

“Down by the old oak tree” she sung happily

Down by the old oak tree,

They found the little boy

His eyes were removed, yet he was crying,

“Non-Believer” was carved on his body

“He shall never see the world again”  was on his chest…

Never again did the little boy not believe

The little girl was charged

But died soon after

…hung herself.

Strange people with badges came, no sign of her family…

As if she never existed.

But one little question still remains:

 

ARE YOU A BELIEVER?

I loved it! The rythm is amazing and the story left me on the edge of my seat. One of my favorites for sure :)
