Are people all inherently good?
Does a starving man have a right to steal food?
Or, are people all inherently bad?
Let's ask somebody in downtown Baghdad.
Say you're a soldier, paid to fight,
You catch a target in your sight,
You flick the safety, raise your gun,
Would you a shoot a boy on the run?
Heroes fighting for their lands,
Sweat on brow, blood on hands,
The world afire, the sky aflame,
Anyone remember this country's name?
So light a candle and sing your songs,
They load the guns and drop the bombs,
Wake up, sugar, this ain't no dream,
You think they'll listen 'cause you scream?
There's those who say we can be saved,
There's been worse before, that we've braved,
But times have changed, people too,
Would they say the same if they knew?
Watch them as they sing their hymms,
Whilst curious children lose their limbs,
Take a stand, if you give a damn,
Wait, didn't we learn from Vietnam?
I'll tell you something that I think is true,
Deep down, we like war, and we're good at it too,
It's in our blood, which is quite appropriate,
Aren't blood and war, rather good associates?
Now, they say that somehow, Jesus saves,
Heals the sick, and frees the slaves,
Forgives my sins, and makes me whole;
But who said I want to save my soul?
Nothing matters anymore,
Nothing matters more than war,
Nothing stops a fighting nation,
Well,
Nothing short of alien invasion.
What, you don't believe what I say?
Give me a break, watch Independance Day.
