The Land of Milk and HoneyA Poem by Tkess
The night covers us like a bruise Through black-eyed alleys And battered street corners A puzzle of the world
Pieces missing and scattered about The city speaks a sordid dialect Known only to the w****s and pushers; A street light halo over the angels of sin city
The skyline, a silhouette of love and lust Against the blue veil of the heavens The city leaves its mark like a blue-white contusion A wound that will not heal
Shattered and torn, broken and crushed Like the scorn of many a lover The city morns, but it will not weep In the land of apathy there is no sleep © 2011 TkessReviews
