From The Ashes

From The Ashes

A Story by TomboyVisionary
"

yet another gothic poem

"
They tore it down
My sacred home
My sanctuary
The souls of the broken wandered in this dome

Lost blood from the dead silent and the damned of the slums
Forgotten youth, grieving widows, Men with shattered hearts

Laughter, screams of joy once plagued the halls as I sat down in serenity with a radiant smile across my face

They burnt it down
My happiest memory reduced to ash

As I lay here with my failure
The Screams turned to horror
Laughter morphed into cries

They came in with the sword and not flowers
Spoke like milk and honey forged in steel

is that all one must offer?

Laid in the ashes of wood, the essence of my beloveds

a broken body
Aged to eternity
Wounded like swine led to slaughter

and yet….

a heart still beating

From the ashes I will rise
I’ll stitch the wounds of body and mind
Bare my grit of hope
Man the armor that once broke me

Awaken a vile man I had not seen since I learned to pick up a sword
Seek violence like I foreseen in my most calm

From the ashes I will never break like I once had
From the ashes

I will become the fire that failed to destroy me
