Your Friend

Your Friend

A Poem by T. R. Writer
"

a letter

"

I don’t want you to go, but I’m your friend and I’m supposed to want what is best for you. I know what is best for you is for you to go.

I know what you are looking for can not be found within me although I wish I could tell you otherwise. The fulfillment you are in search of can only be found by you leaving me, if only momentarily, but that short time will feel like forever.

I want to pray, hope and believe that this time apart will only make our friendship grow, make our experiences together richer and strengthen our connection. I know that is possible. I also know that this time apart may mean the end of us. Some say absence makes the heart grow fonder. Others say out of sight, out of mind. I know you will be in my thoughts and heart for eternity, but will I be in yours?

This insecurity I feel, I can not voice to you. I’m supposed to be strong, want what you want and be supportive. I’m trying. I’m smiling when I feel like crying. Telling you how happy I am for you although I feel like a hole is being drilled into my chest.

I’ll miss you while you’re gone. I’ll miss your laugh and your effervescent spirit. I pray that God will take care of you, and maybe even selfishly, I pray that he will bring you back to me again. I’ll hug you and wish you farewell with a smile on my face, but as soon as you’re out of sight, I know tears will flood my eyes and a sorrowful moan will escape from my soul.

I’m your friend. I want what is best for you even if it hurts me. I pray you will come back to me and if you do, I pray that you will see that I love you much more than just a friend, and I will do all I can to help fulfill your dreams. Again, that is my own selfish thoughts and desires I keep buried inside for the best interest of our friendship. I’ll miss you and I’ll be here waiting for you, forever if I have to.

Love Always,

     Your Friend

Wow,
The way you expose the contents of your heart is so moving. You allow readers to know who you are and what you are feeling. You even allow us to feel it with you.

While reading this poem I was able to think about the kind of love that you are expressing....let's just say I hope to feel like that again.

Your friend is very blessed to have you. You have such a gift. Continue to nurture and take care of it.
Beautifully written.

Love letter left on paper and sweet dreams. Poem is amazing. Those offers we give with our heart as gifts are blessing when we are old and gray. A well written story and a pleasure to read. Thank you.

The feelings that reach out from this poem are very strong and powerful

You have expressed yourself completely and clearly, you had these emotions while you were writing this poem

The reader can feel the pain you are going through and surprisingly the delight in you wanting to do what is right.

I salute you for that and for writing this poem

Beautiful, almost like prose. Soft part in my heart when I read this, because it reminds me exactly of a past relationship I had before, that was so deep, and how we felt when we knew we had to part so that each of our lives could go in the right direction, and i never once saw him cry, although i shed tears for both of us!!!! thanks for sharing.
