I wish that I were simple minded.

I wish that I could be satisfied with myself.

I wish that I had some sense of calm,

the acid has been eating at me for far too long,

digesting my intestines

over glances and sly remarks,

a broken record plays until the beat disappears.

 

I wish I had determination

for the day to day race,

my exhausted brain has no fire escape

no stimulated rain.

I wish I were alone in my mind.

 

I wish I could wait

but this nonsense must end

I wish I could chop off

my goddamn head.
