The Last HoursA Poem by Trikius...
Halfway home on a highway to hell My last hours alive spent here in my cell Left only with my thoughts of the act soon to come I cry out to god forgive the crimes that I've done
There's so many things in this life that I'll miss My daughter's hellos, feeling my wife's kiss If I close my eyes I can still see them lying in bed My daughter pulling the covers over her head A loud buzzing sound and I know my keepers come soon Another noise then the bars slide open to my room The two gaurds appear to tell me it's time I shall no longer wait for this fate that is mine With shackles secure I'm led to my death I try to cherish each step and savor each breath Such simple things for one to adore But such simple things I will soon do no more As I'm taken toward the chair down a narrow hall I see the viewers of my death, they stare in appall A woman in black stands out more than the rest Wanting to keep her composure, she's trying her best I'm strapped in the chair and asked if I wish to speak I say to them yes my speech sounding meak To the woman in black my words cut like a knife When I tell her I'm sorry, I never meant to take her son's life But on that day her son's life I did take And now I must pay for that fateful mistake The guard throws the switch putting this life to a end My maker accept me and forgive all of my sins Author: M.Rose © 2010 TrikiusAuthor's Note
