Chapter I-IA Chapter by Tsubaki KuroAn
older Japanese man is quickly pushing a long, round metal casket down a filthy
pavement floor. Next to him was the soft glow of the ocean. He is wearing a
white blood stained lab coat and a pair of black slacks. He quickly looks
behind himself when he hears police sirens whine off in the distance. He takes
in a deep breath and returns to pushing the metal casket. The police sirens
echo through the cold night, coming closer and closer. He looks up and sees a
large black military helicopter with a man wearing suit holding an automatic
rifle. The man in the suit spots the older Japanese man and whistles. Three
more suited men jump out the plane and rush towards the older Japanese man.
They reach him and help him push the large metal casket towards the plane. The
three men lift up the metal casket and place it into the plane. The man with
the automatic rifle looks at the older Japanese man. “What
took you so long Mr. Tsukashima? You’re running a bit late. By the sound of it,
it seems like you got in a bit of trouble.” He says, nodding his head behind
Tsukashima, towards the police sirens. “Someone
informed them about me. I had to hide for a bit. Sorry about that.” “Weren’t
you supposed to have a partner with you? Where the hell is he at?” Tsukashima
sighs and points to the blood stains on his lab coat. “He didn’t make it. The
cargo killed him before he was able to detain it.” The
man nods and motions towards the helicopter with gun. “Get on the helicopter
Mr. Tsukashima, Issac is waiting for you to arrive. Tech City should be a
twenty minute flight from here.” Tsukashima
nods and rushes aboard the helicopter. Everybody’s heads shoots up when the
sound of ear deafening police sirens blare and the sound of car tires breaking
on pavement suddenly break the almost quiet night. Japanese policemen jump out of their squad
cars and aim their guns at the people in the helicopter. “S**t,
I thought they were farther away. They must have been sending squad cars whose
sirens weren’t blaring to sneak up on us.
Hurry up and take off!” the man with the automatic rifle shouts out. The
Japanese police open fires at the helicopter as it takes off. Their bullets
just bounce of the black shell of the helicopter. The helicopter takes off and
quickly flies about the policemen and flies across the ocean. “That
was a close one Mr. Tsukashima. Luckily this is a bullet proof vessel. One of
the most expensive attack helicopters made in the U.S. Fast as hell and has
enough fire power to destroy an entire city. She is a beauty.” The man with the
automatic rifle says smiling. “Seems
like a waste of money to me to pick me up in such a expensive thing. I will
never get you Americans.” “You
and your cargo are well worth it. The future of mankind and warfare depends on
you and that thing. Also, this is a very illegal thing that we are doing. We
all can be punished to death for this s**t. Breaking the Human Species
Law. Not even the President knows what’s
happening.” “That
doesn’t seem too good. I would hate to know that the government is pulling some
shady s**t for warfare. But, I am grateful for having some work to do.” “Just
don’t leak anything to the public; I’d hate to see you getting killed for
helping saves lives. Also, if anyone finds out about this, you have permission
to kill them. There have already been many people silenced, around thirty or
so.” “That’s
comforting to hear, don’t worry about me, I will keep my lips sealed.” The
man talking to Tsukashima stands up and walks over to the pilot and chats with
him. Tsukashima stares outside the helicopter and looks upon the dark ocean and
the bright city lights that are getting brighter and brighter as they fly
closer to them. Tsukashima sighs and closes his eyes. ‘Promise
me that you will take care of our daughter Senji. She will be the only thing
you will have left when I’m gone. Promise me that you will love her as you
loved me.’ A female voice echoes in Senji’s mind. Senji
grits his teeth and a tear rolls down his face. ‘I will do everything in my
power to do that Karin.’ © 2017 Tsubaki Kuro |
