Lost Without You

Lost Without You

A Poem by James Mckay

I'm standing here at a crossroad
Uncertain where to go
Carrying a real heavy burden
Starting to feel real low

They say if you go North
You'll find the answers you seek
All I found was sorrow and pain
Tears running down my cheek

I could try going East
The only thing my eyes could see
Was a distant reminder of my past
Filled with heartache and misery

So West it was, I immediately went
Well I was ultimately mistaken
Not sure what I should do
For a heart that keeps breakin

Maybe I'll find my answers by going South
Or will I constantly be in despair
It seems I will not find the answers
If it means me going back there

In any direction, there's no healing
In any direction, I'm totally screwed
I suppose I remain here forever
And just feel lost without you!

I've been here a couple of times in the past. It's a terrible place to be. At a time, it was because I lost a best friend to 'death'. Another time, a girl broke my heart. Other times, it was just because I made a series of stupid decisions that left me in the midst of nowhere trying to find my way out of the mess. I pray that everyone who find themselves here will speedily find their way out of the labyrinth. A beautiful poem. Simple and elegant.
