Bucket List

Bucket List

A Poem by James Mckay

Many families struggle each day and money may decide their own fate
While many are able to travel abroad; most never leave their own state
Some save and save and are able to journey to amazing scenery unknown
While some live check to check and they never leave the comforts of home
They see only what's on the internet and t.v. but there's so much that exists
So they write down places they want to visit, so they start up a bucket list

I'm not making up any excuses but unfortunately the money just isn't there
Sure I could find a much better job and it just might get me going somewhere
I know I'm just one of thousands and thousands that will not get to see it all
Oh I probably won't get to see the Eiffel Tower in France or China's Great Wall
Well I won't find a genie in a lamp or see a falling star to make one a simple wish
I can think of many places that I really want to go but I don't have a bucket list

There's Mount Rushmore in South Dakota or there is India's amazing Taj Mahal
I would love to see Loch Ness over in Scotland and see the majestic Niagara Falls
I've always wanted to go to Ireland or stand on the beautiful shores of Hawaii
I want to view the Grand Canyon from the ledge or see the Statue of Liberty
There's the Roman Coliseum and there's Stonehenge or the Pyramids of Egypt
All of these could be checked off, if I could actually make myself a bucket list

I'd love to see the Redwood trees and the Golden Gate Bridge of California
Christ the Redeemer in Rio, Mount Everest, and the leaning Tower of Pisa
There's Yellowstone National Park and of course, the infamous San Diego Zoo
There are wild safari's in Africa and I could visit the Outback in Australlia too
There's the rainforest in the Amazon, Mt. Fuji in Japan; it don't get better than this
It takes years and years of planning and saving if you were to do a bucket list

There are so many states here in the U.S. that have unique beauty and sites
From the rivers and rolling hills and mountains to those crispy, starry nights
From the greenest of grass to the desert sands to all of the cities and their lights
The Vegas strip, The Hoover Dam, and others just having the time of your life
There are beaches and oceans spread throughout, even swamplands you can't miss
Tunnels and bridges are all in existence if you happen to fill out your bucket list.
