Bedtime story

Bedtime story

A Poem by Alex

Once in a time beyond drama and wars I was perfect princess, I was almost yours.

Within loving glow my wings tested their might, I was someone’s treasure I was someone’s light.

Believed I was special within silk spun dream, but things in my life never are what they seem.

Now in cold night, in mistrust armed by pride, I’m caught in connection I feel deep inside.

I stand at the window rest cheek on cool pane, and long for the chains that I fought to escape.

I look in the mirror and what do I see, a tamed paper tiger a fox in the breeze.

No more will you hear me whisper your name or say that I love you not even in game.

In dreams you shall haunt me; by day we wear masks, know that I miss you but pray never ask.
