Overcast Oblivion

Overcast Oblivion

A Poem by Roger Morrison
"

When the smoke clears we share a bed till the midnight hours pass

"

Overcast Oblivion

Tear out the paper w***e
Anonymous desperation
Lonely man slouched in the corner
Love’s no more; it’s all sensation

Overcast oblivion hides our heaven
We dance blindly amongst the trees
While I thrash to get off the ground
She’s pinned to the floor with nails through her knees
I was living in the top of a barn
With the Devil and a piece of glass
When the smoke clears we share a bed
Till the night hours pass

I drift away with the tide
I crawl across the ocean floor
Blue skies burning holes in my eyes
When I reach the shore
You’re still lost in the overcast
I know that I left you behind
But we can see heaven through the clouds
If you take this Devil out of my mind
