"Pain"

"Pain"

A Poem by Valentine

"Pain"
Pain comes for free,
Love dishes it out'
Never looking to see,
The hurt and the doubt.
Pain has no cost,
It can come with one word.
Or deep in the silence,
Still be heard.
Pain can break the heart,
And then set it free.
Leaving it amongst the brambles,
For all to see.
Pain can bring tears,
That fall down a face,
Bringing on despair,
And deep disgrace.
Pain has no conscience,
It strikes where it will.
Downing the mighty,
Casting a chill.
Pain comes in silence,
Or a loud roar.
Or in a whisper,
A thought..one abhors.
Pain comes in all sizes,
No one is immune.
Step out in the world,
See pain play it's tune.
Pain preys on the weak,
It preys on the strong.
It preys on the humble,
Then just ambles along.

No one is absent when pain is dished out and pray for relief from its sting.

I have to agree with Coyote, I enjoyed the flow of the poem and also its content. I last few lines are strong and provides a solid ending for the poem. The opening "Pain comes for free/ Love dishes out/ Never looking to see" are good lines that had me nodding my head in agreement. Pain unfortunately is apart of life and we have to endure it just as we enjoy the good times. Good work

A very description of pain. I had to read again. I like the flow of thoughts and the logical ending.
"It preys on the strong.
It preys on the humble,
Then just ambles along."
Thank you for the excellent poem.
