"Neath The Chestnut tree"A Poem by Valentine
"Neath the Chestnut Tree"
Oh, to once again see thy face, to return to all, as 'twas then. See love shining, from thine eyes, to be sweethearts...not just friends. just to relive, one of these sunny days, lying in passion, neath the chestnut tree. To feel Heaven, come down to earth, touch love again...as it touched me. If only to see thine shining eyes, the glow upon thy golden face. To see all now, as 'twas then, to be loved...and interlaced. Alas...the Master had His own plan, for each life to be placed. A road, that each one must follow, and happiness 'twas erased. God cast you upon a higher plane... one I could not have led thee to. Even tho...it broke this heart, love let go...it released you. Now thou art adorned in diamonds and pearls, live in a mansion...high upon a hill. When thou beckons...all needs are met, neath the chestnut tree, I love thee still. I stood as a beggar...outside of life's door, for a time we loved, tho I was ragged and poor. And Heaven neath the chestnut tree 'twas mine, alas, 'twas only for...one short space in time. Valentine © 2014 Valentine |
