"Splendor Upon the Grass"

"Splendor Upon the Grass"

A Poem by Valentine

   "Splendor Upon the Grass"

You lie,

in all of your naked splendor,

sprawling upon the grass.

All eyes looking

upon the sparkling diamonds

of your eyes.

All heads

turned toward you,

as if that were your due.

You lie glistening

boldly daring

all eyes to see

the beauty of your face.

As you lie naked

covered in diamonds

awaiting the morning sun

to kiss the moisture

off of your body

and your face;

and as the sun appears...

all glistening disappears

before our very eyes.

As the morning's warmth

erases the 'DEW'

that was you.

Nothing like the sparkling diamonds of dew on a damp lawn. Kathie
A nice play on words! I would have thought the poem was about one of the Twilight vampires but I read Coyote's comment and your response, so I understand better now. :)

Thank you very much. Kathie
Beautifully evokes that quiet time at dawn when you look across the grass heavy with dew, sip a coffee and wait. A good description of a good time. Good write.

A beautiful moment watched, captured in your words and shared with us. Love the images of silent mornings spent watching and wondering that it conjures, when it is only you and the birds awake. My favourite time of the day. Thanks for that :)

wow ...well done ...i was instantly hooked ..tantalized onward ..flowing to the climax of erasing ..wow! i like this free verse of yours a lot ..well done ...and beauty is truly even less than skin deep isn't it ...not to take away form your romantic poem but this line: "as if that were your due." is my Wonder Dog all the time ..its how she treats me with never a doubt ... but i am her slave and love her all the more;)
anyway ..fantastic poem in my opinion! to look forward each morning and witness the miracle ..breathless says i! breathless

You sure this about the dew, Kathie.
Sort of thought it was about a vain man.
Like it though.
You can interpret it in many forms.
