HIS LIKENESSA Poem by Vatsal Rohilla (account shifted)
I have a likeness placed in front of me,
and I am plunged deep in memory. The likeness is of someone I know, and he has left this world, by him, in the likeness, shrubs grow, shrubs- green as emerald. He wears upon his face a smile, and appears felicitous, he seems to know things, while I seem oblivious. He's the one who inspires me and captures my imagination, I am plunged in thoughts and am in contemplation. I sigh why did he leave the earth, so very quietly and, before I, his fan, took birth- before I was on land. But he has attained immortality, for his good deeds, I am just a mere follower, he is the one who leads. I still have the likeness in front of me, it extorts sorrow and evokes glee.
