Ledge

Ledge

A Poem by VelvetPotato

I shuffled to the side
the sandstone fell aside
the jagged, ninety-degree
now rocky rain debris

I bellowed my best "hello!"
the redrock canyon echoed
inviting in warm embrace
for a free-fall heart race

The edge of the ledge
gave not fear, but life
because I could fall off,
or jump, in all my strife

Although every other day
is mundane, forgetful gray
being by the ledge
gave vitality light to shed

maybe that is what kept Plath going even as long as she did...
getting to that precipice over and over...
Finding her life joyless and mundane...but taking that risk of death...
and exciting almost jump into the canyon.
excellent piece with implications.
