The Answer

The Answer

A Poem by VelvetPotato

They say, if you want the answer,
Pretend that you have cancer.

His annoying, deep sleep snore,
Is not a bother anymore.

Forgetting to turn off the light -
Insignificant, when days are numbered in life

An obliteration of old ways,
An obstruction of routine thought -

Now every ticking moment,
Is judiciously chosen -

And I think you will see clearly,
That nothing matters but ones held dearly

I like this. It has a predictable rhyme scheme, but still enjoyable to read.

I agree. I feel it is a bit simple and juvenile.

Thanks for your review. :)

Gee
We sometimes need a good kick up the arse to put things into perspective as we all blow many things out of proportion.

The passionate drive for an answer, though it may not be the answer you're looking for. This was a wonderful read and was wonderfully written as well. thfs

Thank you, Cyprian!
A good example here of being thankful for what you've been spared. Putting yourself in the place of someone terminally ill for a few moments can put things in perspective. Do it too long, though, and you might find yourself slipping into depression.

This is true, John. You have to find the balance. Sometimes the initial news is all you need to chan.. read more
Nothing like bombshell news to put things in perspective. Suddenly the irritants disappear out the window as you focus on all you hold dear. Loved ones are everything. This poem packed a punch.

Thank you Chris. It certainly gives one a reality check.
Oh wow, this one just punched me in the heart...I have a very close friend who told me today
that he has cancer...we hope they have caught it early enough.
But it scares the hell out of me...I don't want to lose another friend to cancer.
Thank you for this poem...I needed that punch...it reminds us to appreciate what we have before it is gone.
