Amigo

Amigo

A Poem by Vidyashree
"

This poem delves into the cyclical nature of suffering, embodied by a figure named Mr. Misery.

"

A long-lost Mr. Misery arrives once again,

Tapping my shoulder with his cold, familiar hands.
I flinch, a tremor sharp as ice,
Then turn to face him, looking him in the eye.
Like the click of a camera, his gaze snaps wide"
A flood of light, turning everything sepia,
Not black and white, but something deeper, softer.

I pull away, breaking the hold of his stare,
My breath slows down, my eyes soften.
I gasp, letting the tension settle"
Then greet him with a smile, almost tender,
"Amigo," I whisper, "So we meet again."
