i recall growing up in the country, the Georgia country which is the deepest country on earth, and
listening to the rain falling on the tin roof, too loud to be interrupted, in a folk rhythm marked
by the simpliest of cord structures. The "drums beating in the sky" is a rich and fundamental reference.
Yet at the end there is this pure and meaningful reference to pain (all or individual) that divides
the heavens from the sky into those same slow-rhythemic southern ribbons. I read your other poems
but this one is more heartfelt and abundant; more personal and expressive.
