TEMPTATION

I’ve kissed the darkness

more than once

but never had what it takes

to move there, to live without

the sun on my shoulders,...

to wallow in the mud,

and join the waking dead.

But the taste of cold lips

is television sweet

and sometimes

I want to swim

in shallow water

but fear I would

drown there.

Wow! A very philosophical write, Vol. Sometimes life is such that we are tempted to give up, leave the road we're on and take a short cut to the dark side, but once we enter the darkness it is a very long and difficult road back to the bright side of life again. Excellent use of allegory to get your message across to your reader. I love the simplicity of the poem, it makes it very appealing to me. Great work, Vol! Thank you so very much for sharing...

Funny. I've done a passing study of most philosophers from Socrates to Bukowski and have come to the conclusion that most of what
their observations are so obvious they all got famous for just writing down what everybody already knew...
