Alot of poems I like to read have alot to bite on. The most generous still leave room in my mouth that allows the enjoyment of going through that process, too, and in that process is drawn out the finer intrinsic components not so obviously recognisable in the presentation of the bite.
This piece is a taste of bitter sweet "Salty kisses", "bells" (though dirge), "freedom (to fade gracefully)", and cool, heavy rest...
The nutriment of the piece I find in detail of the natural world (universal & accessible) and the intrinsic connection to abstractions and our ethereal realities of consciousness - how these exist all at once both inwardly and in the external world, and we "feel" what it is to live. Not just in our emotions, but our spirit, and mind, and bodies...
At first read "evening" is beautiful subdued light on a minimalists like movie scene in nature which then (in the way nature does) takes us out and in, absorbing and enveloping us with more-ness.
But then, Vol, you've left us with a keepsake rock to carry home in the pocket.

I've been a reader all my life, and have a "gift?" for seeing through all the shades of color and layers of meaning. I said that because I've never had anyone say something I so deeply relate to as yur review here... it could have come out of my own deepest thoughts. Every good poem is a keepsake rock, many of them cut and polished like gems.
I know nothing about you, but I sure do wish there was a place with a table where we could meet and talk about all the stuff Douglas Adams thought was interesting, you know, Life, teh universe, and everything.
