With nursing homes all the rage of a generation that would not care for its forebears it is a big consideration how to go through that last leg and be able to sustain these poetic friendships before the curtain finally falls.

No worries, Vol. That is still an excellent read. 🕊️🙏

What a wonderfully wistful write, sir Vol. Your words, poems and all, can so often be powerful and adamant when the topic calls for it. In other words you know HOW to place letters. But in and with this poem there is sincere emotion that reads like so much like love divine and all, it's brought tears to my early morning eyes.
There's a beautifully hidden tale here: tis more than charming and utterly believable. A superb share.

Joy,
Emotionally autobiographical... But you know that...

I like how this poem contrast the dark clouds above, the darkness that surrounds, mirrors the dark that swirls within. And that's just how I like my coffee- dark. Atleast the coffee will bring a warmth, chasing away the cold, even for a moment. But I find, it can last a few hours, after the first cup hehe. I love coffee. I even wrote a poem about coffee, being a "life long friend " sigh ... I have this dream also, to just live like a hobbit, just a simple life but somehow, still feels magical. I think to myself, I like myself better alone. I prefer my own company. I believe I can find peace in solitude. My two sisters are single, one chose to be single, the other just got through a divorce and they agree, they prefer solitude and freedom. The last line is charming. "A better universe with you in it" would be beautiful.

We are made for connection, Vol. It's true. And everything is necessarily in relationship ...
This piece is replete with that recognition. Even in the dim of a lightless den, it sees symbiosis as essential oil and strikes a match

Not many folks I know can pack so much in so few words... Thank you! So I live pretty much alone in a tiny ghost town... I have to drive 35 miles to spend money... Before I moved here, I was always with folks, talking their ears off, sharing insights, solving world problems, enjoying some nice, local brews... I miss life!

We all have a dream like that Vol. Even me with my pretend cabin in the woods that is as technological as they come, with those magic windows on the roof that give us free energy from that big yellow skyball of fire... yes, even here in Scotland, where the sun is less common as our national animal, the unicorn (it is btw, Google it and be amazed. Ps... our national flower isnt a flower either, its technically a weed!) 😀
But luckily, it only looks like we are far from civilisation and have only a 15 minute drive to the supermarket or 30 minutes to a shopping centre, where for a change of pace we can pretend we live amongst all those strangely stressful people trying to steal our parking spots and barging into us will we wait in line for our moccalattecinos or to talk to a robot that calculates how much we owe the corporate machine that provides our groceries. Yet all these new fangled modern whatchamacallits still ain't so evolved as to carry our shopping to the car, although they do sometimes find us when we do an online shop.
Actually can't wait to get back yo it after a week of visiting some of the islands through work to see more of what's happening with renewable energy and living.
We decided to add a few days on so we could visit Edinburgh too for some Christmas shopping, but we're just about done with out annual visit to normality and are ready to take our goodies back home, where we will astound the locals with Christmas gifts that aren't made from twigs and leaves and try to pass themselves off as pot pourri. I've even learned to look surprised and grateful when I see a gift that looks just like what I've just swept out the front garden! 😀
... And a very commercial exploitation of a once meaningful occasion to you too! 😆

I mean... If Narwhales can do it, why not horses? Thistles, on the other hand... when they die, their heaven is Texas! They are everywhere around here... I decapitate them on sight... it almost helps... I was not aware of their Sainthood until now, so from now on when I kill them, I'll be a little more reverent... bad as they are, they hold no candle to the sandspurs who have crawled from the depths of hell to infest my yard... Happy Thanksgiving, my friend, and thank you for the thoughtful review!

They couldn't get through them so decided to row further south and invade England instead. And here was you thinking they weren't a bunch of Aussies too, getting defeated by a weed! 😀
They did make it to the scottish isles though, which is why when you visit the islands they talk so weird that they make us mainlanders sound positively normal! 😀
I think you showed me a pick of those sandspurs before. I wonder if they are what Australians call bindies, because I hear they make walking across grass a right pain.
I've never really understood why the unicorn is our national animal though. I'd much prefer the pushmepullyou! 😀
