The Choice?

The Choice?

A Poem by Shravya
"

They say that when you drown, your last moments are peaceful - almost serene. Like you have accepted that your life has come to an end and have made peace with it.

"
Water before me, quiet and calm,
a gentle push, a steady palm.
Water around me, deeper and deeper still,
swallowing me up, having it's fill.

Two paths before me - up and down,
Do I go out? Or give in and drown?
Water engulfing me, freezing yet warm,
bubbles surrounding me, eerily drawn.

The muffled noise creating a haunting song,
The beats in the background my companions for so long.
Water above me, blinding with shine,
Oh how I wish for that light to be mine.

Author's Note

Shravya
Do you all understand the metaphors? I have shown this to some of my classmates - and apparently no one understands what this is about. Maybe my writing is a bit confusing and poorly put together?

Here's a challenge- guess what the the "beats in the background" refer to.
