My ReflectionA Poem by Ian FarawayI stand in the darkness
Staring into my own reflection Frozen in sadness and fear At what is looking back My reflection shows A distorted smile Of a mad man Laughing at the idea of death It shows circles Underneath cold, dead eyes Of an uprising psychopath Who has finally snapped Am I a monster That all around me see? A monster that I fight So others won't hate me It's like all the good Is locked inside of me Reaching through cold bars Reaching into eternal darkness Was it all the years Of being casted away Like a monster That made me one? Will this reflection Be my fate Or will love Save me from myself? They say that women Have ways of healing Broken hearts and souls So why not mine? Or am I destined To turn into a vessel Of pure hate That can't be saved? Last in a fight That I cannot win For all hope has perished In this lonely battle If someone can love Such a torn soul Then maybe I could win Against my darkness © 2013 Ian FarawayReviews
