A Day of Love

You and I were separated by force

Yet never properly reconciled.

On this day of love

I sense your loneliness

Almost as if it were my own.

Though I am not quite lonely

With all these people around

I think of you, and suddenly I am,

Because I know how your heart longs for me.

And mine for you.

So maybe, through a poem,

I can still give you a kiss

And ask you to smile;

Enjoy the day as best you can.

I love you, so please find a way

To smile again for today

Even though we’re far apart,

I’m giving you the warmest hugs.

If you’re still mine, then I’m still yours.
