To thee

A quick poem written at a recent poetry seminar open forum. Nothing too special

Silence is broken

A breath has spawned

Your words were spoken

The day adorned

This heart was shattered

But then reborn

For me you were battered

For belief, I'm scorned

This chance to life

despite this suicide

Opportunity to love

And make all things right

How can I forsake

This God-given light

bestowed upon me

amidst heavens might?

The poem is very good. Short lines with meaning. No wasted words. The statements open the door to questions. A logical ending even if it is a question. I agree each life is a light. A gift to use for good or bad. Thank you for the amazing poem.

I don't know that i agree that its nothing too special - all poetry has value when its from the heart. There are a couple of rhymes that seem a little contrived, but the message is honest and paintful. A good write.
