Rhubarb and StrawberriesA Poem by YouoweYoupayI learned by watching you...
Rhubarb and Strawberries Your little flip-flops Have left a trail Of mud stamps and Dried golden Thyme Leaves Mama won't be pleased... But beneath a cream smeared blue A drizzle spurts From a thumb-pressed garden hose Your laughter puts me at ease… I rumple your hair Despite the objections Dewdrops in sunshine dust And your sister's lazy humming All joyful little flecks that kiss The afternoon breeze You never Aimed to lecture But I learned by watching you Lean to draw pencil lines There was still plenty of earth To bury rhubarb and strawberry seeds.. © 2013 YouoweYoupayAuthor's Note
