Love to Last a LifetimeA Poem by Jennifer PFor My Dad ... RIP
He sits reclined in the old chair, Just an old man, in old man clothes. Then he smiles, and a young man With all the hopes and dreams Of all that is yet to come Shines in his eyes.
Now he sleeps, Breathless and still. The echo of that sweet smile Lingers still in the silence, Like a beacon of hope It rings for those that hear.
Night closes around And a lonely ache settles To close off all hope, Except for the warmth of the smile That lingers still To enfold in it's loving arms. © 2009 Jennifer P |
