Omnipotence For A Moment

Omnipotence For A Moment

A Poem by Jennifer P

Rumble…

I step outside

My eyes blink in response

To the sudden flash of blue

Boom… the ground shakes

The air is alive and intense

I step out into the raging

The  ground shakes with fury

Bright light streaks the sky

Like a living snake

The wind swirls around me

In a primitive dance

I feel instilled with Power

I am part of the Vortex

The air is chill suddenly

The Exhilaration is untamable

The light slices the sky

And out pours the tears

Of all the pain in the world

Others yell for me to come away

But I cannot

The power is like a drug

Soaking into my flesh

Infusing me with it's omnipotence

Reaching my arms high

I welcome it into me

Begging for it to transform me

Then slowly it fades

As it moves on without me

A tear falls unseen on my wet face

As it goes and leaves me behind

Leaving me with nothing

But a faint memory of power

Power beyond anything I'd ever known

Little else in nature can stir dynamic emotions more than a thunderstorm. Some may run and hide, but like you, I'm drawn to them. Your poem captures the essence very well.
