The last drop

The last drop

A Poem by willweb

Yesterday I collected all of my mistakes,

my sins and hurtful words

and placed them in an old

Maxwell House coffee can

“Good to the last drop” in fancy script -

I hope not

I put back the plastic lid

with one small crack on the edge

and hid it on the top shelf

behind a box of saltines,

the ones you could never reach

Who knew that you would pick today

to clean out the pantry - and your heart

Brilliant use of the metaphor. The poem makes you laugh, and makes you feel upset at the same time. You really know how to play all the strings to capture the reader's heart.=)

Thank you so much for your nice comments. I am happy you enjoyed this one.
God, I don't know if I should laugh or cry.
It's funny, but at the same time, it's not.

Love the poem.
