Nothing more to say

I’m scared to death of poetry

Afraid of what I write

How it will be taken

Who my words will slight

 

A heart that has been broken

Another falling tear

Digging up sad memories

Someone else’s fear

 

I know not who is reading

Who might wander by

Will my poem hurt them

Will it make them cry

 

I could be seen as evil

Because of what I pen

Is this harm I’m doing

Rhyming once again

 

What pain am I causing

In stanzas I display

I’m scared to death of poetry

I’ve nothing more to say

I have felt this way...mostly I am scared people will think I am crazy. Never let is stop you though because even if it hurts at least you made someone feel something.

if your poem causes pain...then it is felt, and that is a good thing...
and even if it hurts, if someone can identify with the pain, with the poem...then like sylvia plath said," readers want to know from someone who has been there and knows the worst"--

if your poems don't evoke feelings that are deep within the reader, then they are ineffective.
a little pain won't kill us...even a tear or two.
