Feeding rumors

of an insatiable appetite

Banging knives and forks

on stained placemats

Demanding their meal

of deep fried lies

and vegetative thoughts

at a cold soup kitchen

on the lower east side

as the city sleeps

unprepared

for the breakfast

they will awaken to

When you're starvin
Anything will do
To quieten
That roarin' engine
Within.

Even though
You know
It'll leave you
With hunger pains
For more.

Never fully satisfy
With what
You're given
As others move
In blissful ignorance
To your flight.
