On a rock

On a rock

high above life

 

smooth faced,

rain drenched

and sun dried

I sit

 

watching clouds paint

abstract wanderings

on an endless sky

 

awaiting your shadow

to appear

next to mine

I like the muted hope this presents. It's like missing someone who has passed or moved away and anticipating what they might have felt in the moment. Very well done. I do that same thing often. There's probably a word for that somewhere; maybe in French.
