Three trees, one love

Three trees, one love

A Poem by willweb

~
We waltzed with a maple, its leaves made for color
or something we both could arrange
The summer greens gather, just left of the summit,
in fall everything starts to change
Now north of the border, where sable eyes flutter,
my heart tends to flutter as well
When syrup was dripping in sticky conditions,
for you, that's the day that I fell
~
I carved our initials, the bark rough in texture,
the stately old oak stood its ground
With saw dust and splinters, an acorn was falling,
a squirrel said none could be found
I finished the heart that meant, I'd always love you
and closed up my knife for a while
You pulled me in closely and kissed me forever,
your lips placed on top of my smile
~
We looked for a difference in twilight encounters,
when fireflies scattered the trees
Like Christmas in springtime, with twinkle light shimmers,
a' dance on a cool evening breeze
Where pine cones would dangle 'bove pine needle blankets
and gifts would be placed there to find
We laughed and we giggled, this evening in April,
for this is my gift, you are mine
~

this feels very sweet. I love the sentiments you’ve associated with each tree. I feel a passage of time,I always associate maples with fall and pine trees with winter, but I love the “Christmas in springtime” feeling. Lovely.
