Dave And Dan

Dave And Dan

A Story by Willys Watson

Dave And Dan

Although they were twins, from by the time they were six they seemed to have different personalities, personal tastes and attitudes. How much of this was real and how much of it was an attempt to say they were twins by birth, but still with different  personalities their parents weren’t sure. Still, in their own way they were saying we may look alike, but we’re different on the inside and that is what counts. The one thing they certainly seemed to have in common was they always supported each other, even encouraged each other and, when it was needed, they defended each other, from school yard bullies to falsehoods being told about either of them.

By their Senior year in High School they had chosen different paths for their immediate future. Dan wanted to get his degree in Teaching and wanted to teach Science in High School. Dave wanted to become an Illustrator, perhaps for ads or for magazines. But what he also wanted was draw cartoons he could hopefully sell to magazines.

As to their personal life, Dan met in college a woman named Diana who also want to get her degree in Teaching and teach High School History. And after they both received their degrees they get married and seem to be happy with their lives and choices.

As to the personal life of Dave, it was not as smoove as it could have been. Part of the reason was he too often acted on impulse, sometimes causing him to enter into a relationship he should not have entered into. Finally, when Dave was thirty, he met a magazine editor named Paula and they were well suited for each other. Although they were never legally married, they lived together for years and his parents fully accepted Paula as part of the family.

As to Diana and Dan having children, they have a daughter they called Carol and Diana took a leave of absence from teaching until Carol reached the age where she could stay at the Day Care center at the school where Diana and Dan were teaching.

Although Dan and Dave were born Twins, they both chose the path that best suited each of them.

"smoove" ha. Jb. This kind of writing reminds me of David Foster Wallace. I think he was pretty overrated but that still means he was extremely awesome. Infinite Jest... also, play some tennis in the summertime a couple times a week while you read that book, it makes it more enjoyable.
