ThinkingA Story by Willys WatsonThinking From an early age Joyce was told she tends to think too much. But to her she really wasn’t thinking too much. She wanted to understand. And, while still young her parents bought a set of Encyclopedias to help her. And to her understanding included everything from Science to math and why some people acted they did they did. Like in politics to religion and the ever changing attitudes she sometimes noticed. By wanting to know the read though the History books and most things that would help her understand. And for age, even when in school through college she wanted to understand. But time, by thinking about so much, she was granted a Scholarship to finish college. And she earned her PhD in both Teaching Math and Science. And, of course, her parents told her how proud of her they were. And even when it came to thinking about her future, she wasn’t sure what she wanted to be. So the joined the Peace Corp. and spent a year in the Amazon Rain Forest, helping those who want it, to lean as much about Computers as she could. When she time was over in the Amazon Rain Forest she moved back home. But to Joyce she started to wonder why she had never been in a relationship with a man. Part of this she could blame on being in the Amazon Rain Forest for a year. But after she returned? So, for the next year, while teaching a class in College she made the effort and did enter into a relationship with a man who was also a Teacher. But there are different kinds of relationships. One man claimed he like her a lot, but really just wanted someone as a woman as a companion he could do things with. As much as she liked the idea, Joyce still longed for more than that. She really wanted a personal relationship. One she hopped would be a very Personal Relationship. One that might include them spending the night together. And wanting to spend many nights together until they were sure doing so was the night thing to do. And this happened with a man she met named Steve. Three years later, during Summer break they took a Weekend to Weekend vacation and decided, because they both loved being out doors and camping out and they choice the State Park, selecting a campsite near enough to the Public Restrooms and Showers, which helped because they were camping the Lake Shore. Joyce already hah a Tent, much like the lather one she used when she lived in the Amazon Rain Forest, Used for brewing Coffee or if they wanted to, for heating for heating opened can goods an, from a smaller grocery store near the Entrance, they stocked up on Liquids to drink. And they came in Joyce’s Jeep because there was more store room behind the front seats. They took a hike until the reached a small hill that overlook the lake and stopped to enjoy it’s beauty and sat in silence for a few moments, then Steve turned to her. “It was nice meeting you whole last Week.” “They were happy to meet you, Steve. But I thought it was odd that My Mother wanted to talk to you in private. What was that all about?” “I’m guessing she want to me the man who has become a big part of your life and wanted to know more about me. And I told her about a lot of my like my childhood, my family and my education, including college and meeting you. But there were a few things I didn’t tell her about. And I really liked your younger brother. He’s smart, kind and respectful to others.” “That’s true. But did Mom tell you he was adopted?” “No, your brother did.” That evening, as they sat around the Campsite, they were both sitting in fold up chairs as Joyce slowly sipped her coffee. “I admire people who adopt children. Loving them, helping teach tem and giving them a safe, secure home, something many of them didn’t have before.” “I thought about that, and thought about adopting a child. But I’m pretty sure being a couple would be easier. Even a married couple.” “Are you proposing to me, Joyce?” “Should I have to?” she teased Steve. “Okay, here’s what I will do. I’ve got a trick coin, My Father gave me when I was young. Both sides of the coin are Heads. So, when I flip the coin and it hands on heads, I will propose to you and suggest we get Married. But I’m doing this so we can get Married and adopt a child.” “I would love that, even it we don’t adopt a child.” “So, when we adopt a child do you care it’s a girl or a boy?” “Not really, Steve, but it’s about time for us to go bed.”
