As The Band Played On

As The Band Played On

A Poem by Amy Whetzell

You inch a little closer

I almost feel your fingers

The aquafresh of your breath

Stays, and lingers

The song was mello

The words were clear

I close my eyes

Wishing you were here

As the band played on

A melody so sweet

I long for the moment

Our lips shall meet

There you stand

In the back of my mind

Your eyes are the most vivid

Bright as the stars that shine

You hair as wavy

As the deep blue sea

With a smile so sweet

I know its just for me

I open my eyes

With nothing to say

The light turns green

And I just drive away.

YAY! I absolutely adore what you did with this picture, and no one else has used it yet, so you set the bar very high. Thanks for entering the Please Explain! contest. It's VERY much appreciated, and I ADORE this piece. The picture's just so cute, Idk how anyone could pass it up if they happened onto your profile and noticed it. lol. Anyway; enough about that. Thanks again for entering and very best of luck to you!
