Because it's easy

It was on the way to my music lesson and my grandma had quickly ducked in to the shops and I was left sitting outside in the car, in the rain. I thought about stuff and... I had to write.

In my car when it's raining
I feel the energy calling

We say life is ups and downs
And it's better to be both than none.
We contradict ourselves in our habits,
the things we do and want.
We take away our dependence on nature
to make things more regular
and easy.

Easy.

We choose easy
not right.
We distance ourselves from true emotion
only scraping the surface,
and calling it life.
We distance ourselves from the ups and downs
so we won't hurt.
We are not both; we're none.
Why?
Because it's easy.

Rain.
We love it, but we get wet.
The cold breeze, the smell, the energy.
We love it.
But we get wet.

In my car when it's raining
I feel the energy calling.
Rain is beautiful.
I sit there, soaking in the beauty.
But the cold water drips in the car window,
wetting my face.
So I wind up the window
and distance myself from the rain
Shelter myself from the cold
But also from the beauty.
I am not both, I'm none.
Why?
Because it's easy.

"Don't go out in the rain!" they say.
"You'll get wet!" they say.
"You'll get sick!" they say.
No. I won't get sick.
Germs have nothing to do with the weather.
I have nothing to fear from the rain.
I will play in the rain.
I will do what is right, not what is easy.
I will love it.
I will get wet.
But that doesn't matter.

I am dancing in the rain.
