light (at the end of the tunnel)

light (at the end of the tunnel)

A Poem by ❀ Gabriela ❀
"

If there’s light at the end of the tunnel, how I wish it would spare me a wink…

"
If there’s light at the end of the tunnel,
how I wish it would spare me a wink.
Just the faintest small glimmer or sparkle;
I could bear trudging onward, I think.

For it feels like I’m running in circles,
that I’m chasing dead-ends in the dark.
But if one beam of light were to greet me;
just the littlest twinkle, or spark

I could summon the will to keep going
(it feels senseless to trudge on in vain).
But it’s this, or I dwell with the shadows-
I suppose I must go on, just the same.

Hello Gabriela, I love the rhyme and rhythm of your poem. I almost exclusively read (and write) free form poetry, so it was a delight coming across your little gem. As someone with lifelong struggles with depression, your theme is quite meaningful to me. Nicely done.
