And then, we meet againA Poem by from the poet's deskA poem about longing for a goodbye that you wish never comes
I tried to practice goodbye,
the way people rehearse speeches in front of quiet rooms and walls that listen But every version felt wrong How do you close a chapter that never asked to end? How do you fold away a person who once lived in every corner of your ordinary days? I don’t want to carry you like an old receipt in my pocket crumpled and faded kept only by accident Our memories hang like clothes no one wears anymore waiting in a dark closet that still smells like yesterday Sometimes late at night, I open that door in my dreams and there you are again laughing like nothing ever broke Mornings are cruel like that They remind me that some people leave without taking their shadows with them Maybe some stories were never meant for goodbyes maybe they only hide in unfinished sentences and quiet midnights So if somewhere, someday, you hear a familiar laugh pause for a moment And then, we meet again
