Never again

I haven't heard a shot
I didn't see muzzle flash
I haven't heard a bomb
Nor shrapnel tearing through my flesh

Yet as I stand
My feet feel light
My knees started to bend
I lost the will to fight

I'm falling to the ground
But it didn't hurt me
Because all around
Are lying my friends beneath me

Never again will we open our eyes
Never again will we see our wives
Never again will we feel someone's warmth
Never again will we go to war
