KIA - Killed in accident

KIA - Killed in accident

A Poem by Lt. Norman

Seventh week at training camp, that week marked the time

the time that I would in the army spend, cause that week I died

I was prepared to die in war, for my homeland to give up life

little I have known, that in accident I will die

Death that has no honor, no valor or bravery

death that is horror, marked as "other casualty"

It's not just me, there's quite a lot

soldiers which against their wish

"in accidents" were lost

We don't lie in Flanders fields

we hadn't saved any lives

we often didn't had a chance

to make our first battle stance

There is no worse way

nothing more frustrating

then a young life lost

without accomplishing anything

So for the sakes of our souls

when the poppies grow

just once a year is enough

please do remember us

Us who hadn't crossed the border

Us who didn't return in a coffin

Us who aren't heroes

Us who stayed and died

Us who grabbed the short end

In our country

at the training camp.
