“Song of 27 Analysis”

“Song of 27” conveys feelings of nostalgia, desperation, and longing through tone words, imagery, and personification. The singer writes as if he has lost his lover. He cries out his feelings and cries a tone of despair. The phrases “such needy days”, “long nights”, “days will fade”, “night will burn”, and “slept through the sunrise” could convey an image of the writer’s life and relationship. It shows the status and how much he misses her. Personification, like that found in phrases “the wind has wept” and “the sky is slurred” shows that the world, too, is sad for the end of his relationship. Everything is weeping for him, The final clue that proves his feelings of sadness is the repetition of the phrase “though I may be miles away from her”, which emphasizes the distance between him and the women as well as how much he misses her. We can also believe that “slept through the sunrise” could also mean he lost his chance at happiness with his lover. He no longer gets to be with her because he was neglecting her presence by personal pleasures. The “Song of 27” is, all and all, an ode to the feelings which were shared by the author and his love.
