The World

a poem i wrote a few years ago... it has sort of a left wing political spin.

Somebody has got to say it. The world is a screwed up place.

And I would make the case,

That we shouldn’t worry about outer space,

While the world is still a screwed up place.

 

There is a great dichotomy

‘Tween the economy.

And the common good.

This isn’t Good.

 

And I say that we SHOULD.

Turn to socialism,

A much disputed “ism”

 

A concept misunderstood

And I’d say that people should,

Open up their minds

To see what they can find

When their minds are not so blinded

By those people who would find it,

At a disadvantage to themselves

To end their years of greed.

 

So many mouths to feed!

I’d say that it’s a noble deed.

To rather help those who are in need.

Than hoarding things that you don’t need.

Why don’t you try it?

Go on a diet.

About 60 percent is what they say,

Of Americans who are fat today.

So try it. Go on a diet.

(only if you are overweight)

 

Some would say that things are fine.

Chillin’ somewhere on the Main Line.

But take some of your precious time,

And read TIME magazine.

Before long you may find,

That there are new thoughts in your mind.

 

The world is a screwed up place

So let’s fix it!!!

first off, the rhymes don't all have to be the same rhymes. they don't all have to rhyme off of the same word
i.e.
___________ cat
_____________ hat
____________bat
___________________ pat

it could be
___________ fail
______________ guardrail
___________ intense
______________ sense.
