Is this poem really about a flower?

Thrown Away Rose

 

She found a home, she could call her own,
Nearly seventy years ago,

A place where she, could grow to be,
Everything, for which she was known,

Her beauty was, taken care of because,
As she blossomed she couldn’t be ignored,

And she brought much joy, to many a girl and boy,
Over the years she was adored,

Then the care that had been given, past many years of living,
Seemed to slowly disappear,

She was left all alone, at the house she called home,
Nobody even knew she was there,

Going by that old place, a smile came to my face,
As I saw through the bristle and briar,

One tiny red dot, fighting hard for the spot,
Just one last blooming desire,

I knew the story, of the beauty and glory,
This rose that was left all alone,

I had just the place, and I cleared the space,
I’m giving this “Thrown Away Rose” a new home.

Oh this really broke my heart. This is so sad. It made me think of the loneliness a mother goes through years later when her children have moved on with their own lives and her partner is gone. Helpless, helpless and alone. This situation makes me so sad and I was just thinking about it today.

It is a blushed measure of grace in the end which blends the crimson blooms to purple wine and dignity.

Hi, I'm doing a return review on a recent work you reviewed of mine.
Upon reading this, I see you, the Poet, going by that old place and smiling when you saw the lone rose.
You knew exactly what to do and you collected it, clearing away the overgrown briars and hacking at the thick brush, sweating but not minding the sweaty shirt clinging to you in that heat of passion for the idea until you took the tender Rose to the special place you had in mind. This one apparently was about a rose bush. I had no idea they could live so long.

This poem was actually inspired by a rose bush l saved from a very old home that was being torn down. The Old woman that lived there, named Rose, had passed away after living alone for many years.
