Desires of the HeartA Poem by TraceI just want to DanceDesires of the Heart He
was sure she had no control over her smile as
he set a single rose down next to her empty glass, He
extended his hand in a most gentlemanly way “May
I have this dance” She
slowly picked up the rose and inhaled of its heady fragrance Letting
the petals linger upon her lips The
band began to play: Stardust
or something by Frankie or Tony He
wasn’t sure,,,,, it didn’t matter,,, Without
a word she gently took his hand And
he raised her to her feet She
stood close, face to face for a moment He
gazed into those stunning blue eyes That
said everything he wanted to know He
felt the blood rushing through his veins As
his heart, beat at a rate he was not accustomed to This
woman was going to dance with him To
let him take her in his arms and hold her tight To
move together to the music, She
demurely melted into his embrace With
a natural rapport, his arm encircled her She
leaned her golden hair against his shoulder As
they became one on the dance floor The
music played, his mind was spinning They
twirled to the rhythm of their heartbeats He
couldn’t help but close his eyes for a moment And
breathe in deeply His
lungs filling with the pure essence of woman The
irresistible perfume of the most beautiful woman He
had ever seen…. And
they danced to the Desires of the heart. © 2026 Trace |
