Dear Lizzie Nkosi

Dear Lizzie Nkosi

A Poem by Xabanisa Thabiso
"

A piece of raw art, I wrote for the one woman who stood by me; steadfast and unwavering. I may not have earned such grace, but she gave it nonetheless. A true angel who walks this earth.

"

You were there when no one else was.

How could I forget you?

You were everything, when everyone was nothing.

How could I repay you?

You taught me love when everyone taught me isolation.

Why would I forget you?

You gave me hope when I felt destroyed and robbed of life.

How could I forget you?

You restored my peace when I was a wreck.

How could I repay you?

I always remember how you ‘show up’ when I’m convinced I’m alone.

I always value your attention.

Auntie, you have always been everything to me, what no one else attempts to be.

You shape my life into existence.

I write so many so many words to try and say I LOVE YOU...

humbly respect and value your presence & role in my life.

I pray someday I can be (of the value to you) that you are to me.
