The Prize of Life

The Prize of Life

A Poem by Xander West

The Prize of Life

Forever and eternity,
I live my life in the night,
For I'm blind and can not see,
What is always right.

It seems as though I'm playing a game,
A game that has no end,
A game with as much joy as pain,
A game never following a particular trend.

So I'm once again left alone,
Watching for the sun to rise,
A sun that has never yet shone,
Light on the truth revealing the prize.

A prize I seem not able to describe,
A prize I seem not able to understand,
I only know that with this prize,
No soul shall have to strive to survive.

So souls will have to defeat the beast,
Our souls may forever rest in peace.
