I had a great idea but it escaped my hard grip. The more I try the less I get.

An idea I had in mind
came and I caught it
but mindlessly I let it out

like a butterfly.

Brilliant brevity! I noticed that the number of syllables in each line alternates between eight and five. Was this intentional? Your poem reminded me of something Tom Waits said, how he was driving, so he told an idea stop bothering him and go pester Leonard Cohen. Your poem will be hard to get out of my head, it is so elusive and profound.
